October was a busy month training, preparing for the forthcoming domestic competitions and the first international in Luxembourg before Christmas. The Modern Pentathlon Development weekend I organised with a strong team, went exceptionally well at Kelly College. 3 Olympic and Paralympic medallists, 2 Olympians and 2 GB Team Coaches, coached the different events throughout the weekend. What a line up to Inspire the Next Generation!
My schools Support and Mentoring Programme is rolling out well too, as the academic year continues. At this time of year the messages are of the importance of goal setting, balancing life and understanding/developing Your Team. I'm eternally grateful to Helpful Holidays, for being such an important member of Team Gorgs. Thank you.
October is looking busy for me with a Modern Pentathlon Development Day that I'm coordinating on the 12/13th Oct, kindly hosted by Kelly College. With the great immediate response from Pony Club members across Devon and Cornwall, the weekend was full a month before! This could be due to three Olympians (Heather Fell, Kate Allenby and myself) and others of high accolade coaching throughout the weekend. Inspired by London 2012, helping the next generation.
Domestic competitions and training continues, as I strive to qualify for Team England for next years Commonwealth Games. Have you got your tickets?!
The Dartmoor National Park filming was carried out over three days, illustrating my Dartmoor Adventure. This included Running, Horse Riding, Cycling, Geocaching and more. It will be available on the DNP website, in the cinemas of the Visitor Center and to Active Dartmoor. (I think...!) And available by the end of the first week of August.
Pistol Coaching young people is a frequent activity, for myself in August. The school holidays mean this is very popular. There has also been a build up to the "GO" event for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, Get On Track programme for Plymouth. This will be a great evening to celebrate the Young People who completed the course. Dave Hill and myself were the Athletes leading the programme, with Active Devon (Karen Jones) and the YMCA (Mark Rowles).
Training is all going well with further weekend trips to Bisley for Cartridge Pistol (.22 Sport Pistol) training. There have been no Trials organised in this event to date, making it impossible to qualify for the Europeans and World Cups this summer. As well as the Commonwealth Games Team Selection. This is said to change but......? Therefore all I can do is keep training, keep trying to improve and keep my spirits up.
