60 competition shots. 30 shots at a precision target, under precision rules and 30 shots at a rapid target under rapid rules.
Precision rules consist of 6 rounds of 5 shots in 5 minutes.
Rapid rules are 6 rounds of a 5 shots cylce. A cycle consists of 7 seconds with the red light on, or target on its edge. The shooter holds the pistol freely with their arm at 45 degrees. The green light is then alight or target exposed for 3 seconds, when the shooter has to raise and fire a single shot within the allocated time. The red light then shows/target edges again for 7 seconds when the shooter lowers the pistol to 45 degrees and the cyle repeats.
Top eight shooters progress to the final where they start on a level playing field, which is all shot under rapid rules. A simple hit or miss scoring system is used through out the final. 5 rounds of rapid rules are followed by a knock-out procedure, where the final person standing as the gold medallist.
